Project Manager, Wastewater Treatment Capital
Status: Regular Full Time
Salary Range:$100,172 to $125,213 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accral)

Location: Clarkson Wastewater Treatment Plant - 2307 Lakeshore Road West, Mississauga and GE Booth Wastewater Treatment Plant - 1300 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga, ON
Hours of work: 35 Hours per week
Who we are: Engineering delivers the construction projects for the watermains, sewers, pumping stations, reservoirs, elevated tanks and treatment plants that supports growth as well as the repair and replacement of aging infrastructure. We also support new subdivisions connecting into our existing network of pipes.In addition to the capital focused teams, our Automation and Data Solutions team supports the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) network for capital projects and operations.
Reports to: Manager, Wastewater Treatment Capital
What you will do in this role: Manages well defined capital projects, typically requiring 1 to 3 years or more to complete. These projects involve wastewater treatment facilities with capital project budgets are typically less than $10 million dollars per project.
- Effectively deliver well defined capital projects, growth-related as well as repair, rehabilitation and replacement, for wastewater treatment facilities.
- Define capital project objectives, scope of work, key stakeholders, roles and responsibilities, key deliverables, design approach, detailed requirements, proposed stages and schedules.
- Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and tender requests for proposal, including defining the terms of reference and evaluate detailed proposals.
- Negotiate with public utilities, conservation authorities, local municipal representatives and provincial agencies to secure required permits and approvals.
- Acquire required property/easements working in collaboration with Infrastructure Planning, Real Estate and Legal support staff.
- Complete Environmental Assessment and design.
- Review project shut-down, start-up and commissioning plans in collaboration with Manager, vendors, Operations, SCADA, Inspectors and Compliance to ensure alignment with contract standards and specifications, service delivery standards and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with the area municipalities and other parties to minimize any overlapping of infrastructure works, minimize service disruption and workout feasibility plans to meet all timelines. Coordinate with Operations and Inspectors to integrate maintenance activities with capital project plans.
- Provide feedback to vendors, address vendor performance issues and complete vendor performance reviews in a timely manner.
- Actively collaborate, cooperate and share information with other divisions and sections in Public Works and corporate support staff.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives related to design, material, project management, customer and service delivery standards.
- Regularly maintain and enhance knowledge on emerging issues, new technology, changing standards, codes and regulations, internal policy and procedure changes, and innovative products, services and practices.
- Assist in the preparation and development of the annual capital budget by identifying new business requirements, infrastructure needs, and process or practice improvements.
What the role requires:
- An undergraduate bachelor’s degree in engineering from a university.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience related to planning, design and construction of municipal -wastewater infrastructure.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, design and construction practices, codes and standards is a considerable asset. Similar experience in water processes, design and construction practices may also be considered as an equivalent.
- Knowledge of construction law, municipal procurement policies and procedures, tendering/contract process, Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations is a considerable asset.
- Experience in project planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Outlook and GIS.
- Ontario Class “G” license and access to a vehicle.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered

Nice to have:
- A preference is given to those with a professional engineer license in Ontario (P. Eng.).

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the Clarkson Wastewater Treatment Plant

The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
