We are hiring for a talented and experienced Head of Technology to join our rapidly growing AI solutions business, Sadie, in Montreal!

As the Head of Technology of Sadie, our suite of AI voice agents, you'll own the strategic vision and practical execution required to drive our AI-powered voice receptionist platform forward. This role demands deep technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and an ability to deliver results in a highly demanding, fast-paced environment.

You will not only think strategically about the future of our technology but actively turn ideas into tangible products, driving real value for customers across multiple industries.

We're looking for a technology leader who can blend strategic thinking with practical execution. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying technology and AI to solve real-world problems, has experience scaling engineering teams, and thrives in fast-paced, highly demanding environments.

You'll spend most of your time shaping strategy, architecture, and team development, but you'll also be expected to actively drive projects forward, providing hands-on guidance and getting directly involved whenever necessary. This role requires someone who not only continually thinks about technology challenges and opportunities but also proactively turns ideas into concrete actions and tangible outcomes.

What your day will look like:

Technical Leadership and Architecture:

  • Design and oversee the technical architecture of Sadie, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Make critical technology decisions regarding frameworks, infrastructure, and development practices
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in AI, voice recognition, and cloud computing

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of engineers across backend, frontend, and AI specialities
  • Establish engineering processes, best practices, and coding standards
  • Drive a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement

Strategic Planning:

  • Partner with the executive team to align technology strategy with business objectives
  • Develop roadmaps for technology evolution and scalability as the company grows
  • Balance technical debt management with new feature development
  • Identify opportunities for technological innovation and competitive differentiation

Infrastructure and Operations:

  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our AWS-based infrastructure
  • Oversee implementation of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Lead incident response and resolution for critical system issues
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Manage the engineering department budget effectively
  • Allocate resources appropriately across projects and initiatives
  • Make strategic decisions about build vs. buy and technical investments

About You:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar related discipline
  • 7+ years of engineering experience with at least 3+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record of managing high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience setting and executing technical strategy and roadmaps
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with business pragmatism
  • Experience making technology decisions that align with company objectives and market needs
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern software development
  • Understanding of LLM technologies, particularly in natural language processing and voice recognition
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS services, including Lambda, ECS, API Gateway
  • Knowledge of modern software architectures, including microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
