We're looking for a mission-driven Coordinator, Braille Literacy and Learning Academy who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.
Your Impact at CNIB- Set up and maintain program campaigns and participant records in Salesforce.
- Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of programs.
- Assist with research, promotion and outreach for programs (may include Social Media support).
- Liaise with CNIB Shared Services such as Beyond Print, Finance and MarCom, as well as external vendors and stakeholders.
- Coordinate distribution of program materials by mail/courier and email.
- Research and plan activities with third party organizations and guest speakers.
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding of volunteers and summer students.
- Coordinate applications and conduct interviews with participants, family members and references.
- Live on campus (Toronto venue TBD) as part of the national SCORE program.
- General administrative duties as required.
Requirements
Who you are:
Education and Certifications- Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of the not-for-profit community resources.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PPT, Teams, Zoom
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of technical aids and devices for people with vision loss an asset
- Basic knowledge of braille, with an interest in learning more.
- Be able to travel independently within the region via public transit or car (taxi, Uber etc.
- Mature individuals with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Provide support to program leads with vision loss (basic administrative skills, proof reading).
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and schedule when required
- Work location: Toronto (GTA Hub at 1525 Yonge St. and occasionally at CNIB main office: 1929 Bayview Ave.)
- Some physical work to pack and unpack materials may be required
