Manager, Business Development - Drafting & Engineering

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually

Job Purpose
As a Manager Business Development, you’ll be concerned with improving and growing the various branches of the business, by fostering and developing relationships with customers, suppliers and other partners. You will work to develop opportunities for Engineering and Drafting projects independently and others that support Fabrication, Construction and Maintenance operations.
Responsibilities:
- Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
- Identifies new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services.
- Has existing contacts that can support projects for drafting and engineering.
- Seeks out the appropriate contact in an organization.
- Generates leads and cold call prospective customers.
- Meets with customers/clients face to face and over the phone.
- Understands the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
- Thinks strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives to develop and improve the business.
- Has a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them.
- Discusses promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department.
- Attends seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.
- Keeps abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
- Supports business development activities for the company by:
- Expanding on Waiward’s business relationships
- Leading generation through networking and industry intelligence gathering
- Demonstrating Waiward’s capacity for Engineering and Drafting services and projects that support fabrication, construction and maintenance operations.
- Recommends marketing initiatives to Vice President, Fabrication.
- Assisting with planning sales campaigns.
- Carries out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to senior management:
- Preparing presentations
- Assisting in the development of quotes and proposals
- Assisting in developing sales goals and strategy
- Negotiating with clients
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Degree in business or related field required or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing client relations
- Self-motivated with a track record of exceptional performance
- Creative talent and the ability to think on your feet and overcome challenges
- Indepth knowledge on the industry and current events
- Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail
- Task-oriented with a demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand the needs of the client.
- Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in an office environment 50% of the time and a field environment 50% of the time. Travel to meet customers and interact at events will be required. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects and driving as well as being exposed to normal office routines.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and interact with several clients daily. The incumbent is also required to sit for extended periods of time.
