Heavy Duty Mechanic (Acheson Shop) - Edmonton
Position Scope:
NACG is looking for a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (HET) to work at our Acheson Shop location. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. For this role, NACG offers a combined gross rate of up to $59.90/hour as well as room for growth!
Where You’ll Be Working- Location: Acheson
- Schedule: 7 x 7, 12 hour, rotating days and nights (week of days, week off, week of nights, week off)
- Hourly Rate: Between $48.87 to $51.87/hour.
- Overtime: After 44 hours in a week or designated day off

Responsibilities:
What You'll Be Doing- Complete repairs/ rebuilds on mining equipment, Cat D8- D11 Dozers, 777 -797 haul trucks, 16- 24 graders. Also, some Hitachi and Komatsu equipment.
- Work closely with supervision, planning and safety departments.
- Preventative Maintenance, Equipment rebuilds, component change outs,
- Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Trouble shooting systems – example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Develop work scopes and parts lists for the equipment needing repairs.
- Follow schedule, complete crossover reports, and fill out work orders.
- Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
- Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
- Predominantly shop work but may include work in the Acheson yard.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
What Makes You the ONE- A valid Alberta Journeyperson Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyperson certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
- Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit professional work behaviours.
- Committed to continuous learning.
- Experience with Cat SIS/ CAT ET is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction.

Once moved into onboarding, the following processes will occur:
- Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
- An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
- After all results and paperwork are received by NACG, candidates will be contacted by us to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other location (site) specific details.
