What is the Opportunity?
The GRM Operational Risk Shared Services Team is responsible for development, maintenance and monitoring effectiveness of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Program, including the underpinning practices and methodologies.
The Director, Operational Risk Management Practices Integration will manage the integration of key practices within RBC's Operational Risk Management Program to ensure that they work cohesively to enable effective management of RBC's operational risk exposures.Success in this role will require a sound understanding of methodologies and requirements, as well as a solid grasp of user application needs and experiences.
What will you do?- Ensure RCSA, ICMP, and EIM practices are aligned as each practice undergo enhancements and changes over time so that the overall ORM Program functions in a cohesive and integrated manner.
- Understand and influence the design of RCSA, ICMP, and EIM practices to ensure they are integrated and complementary risk management processes.
- Manage transformation and BAU changes to RCSA, ICMP, and EIM to ensure strong governance processes that can identify and resolve potential blockages.
- Establish and execute processes to ensure changes to RCSA, ICMP, and EIM requirements are implemented and applied in an integrated manner, taking into consideration downstream impacts.
- Work closely with 1LOD and 2LOD stakeholders to ensure implementation activities can be completed as planned in the context of their operating model and environment.
- Collaborate with 2LOD stakeholders to ensure coordination and consistency in the application of 2LOD oversight for RCSA, ICMP, and EIM practices.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to enable active and collaborative working relationships.
- Work collaboratively across teams, enabling an engaged workforce who are effective, knowledgeable and adaptable.
- Support the vision, strategy, mandate and operating model for the unit.
- Contribute to strategy, culture and activities to enable the team to operate as an integrated organization and execute effectively.
- Support behaviours that embed a strong risk management culture across all 3 lines of defence.
- Actively support business partners such as the A&O and CoG communities in implementing operational risk management practices in a manner that aligns with strategic objectives.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
- Sound knowledge of RCSA (risk and control self-assessment) and control management concepts, methodologies and best practices
- Strong collaboration and relationship management skills
- Ability to understand the big picture and how individual elements depend on or impact each other
- Ability to anticipate integration challenges and take proactive action to minimize impact
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including ability to simplify complex ideas
- Ability to work with ambiguities and/or incomplete information
Nice-to-Have:
- Knowledge of and experience with other operational risk management concepts, methodologies and best practices
- Prior 1st Line of Defence and/or external operational risk management experience
