Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Radiological Technologist to join the General Radiology team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Radiological Technologist 3 with VCH you will:

  • Perform special procedure examinations in computed tomography (CT) and radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental policy and procedures and observes safe radiation protection practices.
  • Perform duties such as:
  • receive and complete requisitions,
  • enter relevant data into the radiology information system,
  • prepare examination trays and patients for specific procedures,
  • operate computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data and monitors the patient during the procedures and equipment performance.

Sechelt is located on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation and is approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, followed by a 25-minute drive along Highway 101, also know as the Sunshine Coast Highway.

ABOUT SECHELT HOSPITAL

Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Certification with the CAMRT (Computed Tomography).
  • Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one (1) year recent, related experience in CT radiology procedures, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and to deal effectively with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and external staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated skill in CT techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
