Position Summary:

The Premium Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional and able to work in an ever changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role requires ProServe certification and full compliance with AGCO alcohol service regulations, as well as strong communication and multitasking skills. A polished, professional demeanour and guest-first attitude are essential.

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00 CAD and is tip eligible.

About the Venue:

Spruce Meadows is South Calgary's leading Sports and Entertainment District, located on the border of Southwest Calgary. Regarded as one of the top show jumping venues on the planet, a stunning 500-acre property also hosts a wide range of events, including tournaments, concerts, festivals, and workld famous markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards.
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks under AGCO and ProServe regulations pertaining to the service of alcohol.
  • Responsible to learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available, and be able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests.
  • Must pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Must check guest’s ID in accordance with regulations to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
  • Must communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
  • Listening and responding to any customer requests or concerns.
  • Contact a management member if he/she is unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making.
  • Request additional product or restock product as required.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary work station at all times. Ensures bar equipment is clean & well maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned such as set-up and breakdown of bar equipment as required and assisting with organization of the cooler, liquor cages and dry storage areas.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of alcohol service experience in a restaurant, premium hospitality, or event venue setting.
  • Strong classic cocktail, wine and beverage knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in premium customer service and guest interaction.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Professional appearance and positive, team-first attitude.
  • Must hold a valid ProServe Certification.
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment.
  • Available to work an event-driven schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
