What is the opportunity?
As a key member of the Legal Entity Reporting (Canada) Intragroup Reconciliation Team, the individual is responsible for reconciliations for the company intragroup (IG) account categories (Funding, Brokerage, Repos, Nostro/Vostro, AR/AP, Accrued Interest, Branch Equity, Positions, Clearings, Controls, NII, NIE, Non-Interest Income, MTM P&L, etc.).
The incumbent will also prepare quarterly IG memo and scorecard for senior management and external auditors; participate in projects relating to the enhancement of reconciliation capabilities / processes for all monthly intragroup reconciliations; and assist the company to implement control and governance programs from enterprise perspective.
What you will do?- Prepare monthly intragroup Balance Sheet and P&L reconciliations, ensuring transactions are consistently reported by each legal entity
- Liaise with Financial Control, Product Control and Operations of all platforms of the bank to resolve reconciliation breaks
- Prepare monitoring reports for all IG balance sheet categories to identify outstanding issues and action plans
- Identify possibilities for reconciliation automation and enhancement
- Ongoing understanding of the nature of the accounts and their underlying relationships and involves constant communication with senior finance staff throughout the organization.
- Prepare variance analyses and understand reasons for variances
- Participate in enterprise-wide control and governance programs.
- Participate in annual SOX walkthroughs.
- Other duties and activities as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- Accounting designation and MBA and/or undergraduate business degree.
- 3+ years' of professional experience, preferably in the Financial Services Industry.
- Knowledge of Capital Markets products, including derivatives, repos, brokerages, and funding, and / or Banking business.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team to deal with reconciliation issues.
- Team player with a strong work ethic.
- Strong to Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience and understanding of RBCs businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns.
