We are currently looking for a Storekeeper to join our team in a regular, full-time position.
Key elements of this role include::
- As a member of the Procurement Team, you will be responsible for the security and efficient operation of the storeroom and outside warehouse.
- These duties require a high degree of accuracy and include but are not limited to; material receiving, issuing, maintaining the bin location system, replenishing, shipping, packaging, system update, delivery, and cycle count.
- You will assist all departments to ensure that material and tools needed for work are ready and available.
- This position is an integral part of the Procurement Team working out of the Lakeside warehouse and as such it will ensure that all receiving inspection controls are met, suppliers are meeting our quality standards, as well as ensuring that administration functions are performed effectively and in accordance with company guidelines.
- You may be requested to provide data on material inventory levels to assist with budget projections and work planning.
- You will be required to participate in regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.
- You will be available to provide Stores support during emergency service restoration.
- You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
- You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.
- This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- A Grade XII education or equivalent and three (3) years’ experience in material handling are required.
- Certification in Forklift Operation as well as WHMIS and TDG training are required.
- You hold a valid NS Drivers License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver's abstract satisfactory to NSPI.
- You must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong computer aptitude and the ability to deal with multiple tasks and demands.
- Knowledge of Maximo (Materials Management System), Oracle, and Microsoft Office Excel and Outlook would be assets.
- You will be required to enroll in the Warehouse Training Program offered in the Procurement group.
- You possess strong interpersonal skills along with demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have the physical capabilities to perform all duties related to the Storekeeper classification.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Must be able to frequently lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder height with occasionally being required to lift to 77 lbs.
- Occasionally lift to 25 lbs. above shoulder height and carry 44-77 lbs. with one or two hands Ability to use whole body weight to either push or pull up to 100 lbs.
- Occasionally perform static reaching from waist to overhead.
- Occasionally perform bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, stair climbing with neck flexion, extension, and rotation Possess the ability to constantly stand and walk for the duration of shift.
