Position: Process Operator (temporary contract)
Primary Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Schedule: 12h/day 7 days on 7 off - 7 Nights on 7 off. (80h straight time - 4h double time)
Reports to: Operations/Maintenance Supervisor

Compensation: 45.00$ - 48.00$ hourly

Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the role's postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY 6 MONTH CONTRACT WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION.

About This Role and You

Operators at our Fort McMurray, Ammonium Sulphate production plant perform general plant duties including operation of pumps, piping, valves and rotating equipment such as screw conveyors & bucket elevators. The successful candidate will also load trucks through the use of a loader and operate a skid steer for general clean-up.

Operators also maintain general plant upkeep and equipment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a plant environment performing similar duties is preferred.
  • Experience loading trucks and hoppers with a Wheeled Load (a must)
  • Training/Experience operating Wheeled Loader, Skid Steer, AWP.
  • Ability to use computer effectively, Microsoft programs, maintenance management system, e-mail, etc. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics.

Medical Requirement

Responsibilities
  • Assist Shift Coordinator by analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing operating data & equipment conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and correct plant problems, follow standard operating procedures. Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Assist Shift Coordinator with plant shutdowns and start-up’s while following written Operating Procedures when directed by Shift Coordinator
  • Thoroughly understand the Plant by walking down equipment with Shift Coordinator with plant P&ID’s Maintain a clean and safe working environment by use of good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist Shift Coordinator in reviewing, up-dating, and developing operating procedures and instructions as needed.
  • Maintains and operates equipment, in a safe, reliable manner.
  • Equipment includes: Pumps, Valves, Hydro-cyclones, Rotary Dryers, Rotary Coolers, Screw Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Belt Conveyors, Granulators, Hammer-mills, Shaker Screeners, Conditioners, Centrifuges, Air compressors and granulators
  • Learns and observes equipment to detect malfunctions and prepares for repairs, Operator trouble shooting activity such as tightening bolts, Cleaning Equipment, removing covers for inspections, Topping up oil levels, replacing shaker screens, and assists maintenance.
  • Discusses with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Creates work orders to correct equipment malfunctions Follow Loading and Sampling Procedures when loading trucks.
  • Maintains and prepares documentation, such as equipment inspection checklists – FLHA – LOTO documentation – PPE inspections – Trucking bill of Lading.
