Job Posting 25-081 100 % T emporary Communicative Disorders Assistant Location : Itinerant Start Date: September 2, 2025 End Date: June 26, 2026 Note this position is not scheduled during March Break, Christmas Break, and Summer Salary Range: Step 1: $209.95/day - Step 6: $286.53/day + 4% vacation pay Schedule: 34.5 hours per week ( Between the hours of Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) The CDA reports to the Superintendent of Student Achievement and works under the direction and clinical supervision of Wellington Catholic District School Board employed Speech-Language Pathologists.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support for students; create low-tech communication aids; set up and program high tech voice output devices; assist with the training of students, teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Educational Assistants in the use of the devices Assist Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP) in providing in-class modeling and support in the use of oral language and phonological awareness activities Implement individual and group communication, speech and language programs for eligible students; prepare lesson plans, activities and materials; document student performance Other assigned duties as provided by the Speech and Language Pathologist REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) program from a recognized college Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Training and experience related to: Child development and childhood exceptionalities, specific articulation and language development, speech and language disorders, treatments and interventions used Set up and use of augmentative communication systems and technology (e.g. Proloquo2go) Assistive listening equipment (FM systems) Excellent oral and written skills Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgement and decision-making skills Able to work independently in carrying out communication screens, hearing screens and given therapy programs Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision This position involves travel to schools within the Board, and therefore the successful candidate must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
