Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Environmental Services performs routine and periodic cleaning tasks. Participates in the Housekeeping T.Q.M. Program for Pioneer Ridge.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prioritizes and performs routine and project tasks to ensure a safe, clean, attractive living and working environment.
  2. Operates automatic floor scrubbers, high speed floor polishers, wet-dry vacuums and uses ladders.
  3. Safely handles waste, chemicals and body fluids in compliance with Infection Control, W.H.I.M.S. and related policies/standards.
  4. Maintains current records for section Total Quality Management Program.
  5. Maintains supply cupboard, cleans equipment, reports safety defects and hazards and submits weekly supply orders.
  6. Attends meetings and educational programs.
  7. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum grade 10 education, together with previous institutional/commercial housekeeping experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be highly motivated, work well in a team environment and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to converse and relate to residents, staff and the public in a courteous and tactful manner
  • A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the frail and elderly is necessary
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be physically fit and able to freely bend, stretch, twist and turn to perform all Housekeeping functions
  • Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
  • Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
  • Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
