Contract Full-Time; 18 Months
Salary Range: $89,469 - $111,834 per annum
Work Mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve.This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

The role:
Join our team as a Water/Wastewater (W/WW) Analytics and Business Support Specialist and leverage your skills to make a meaningful impact in water and wastewater operations. Reporting to the Supervisor of Water/Wastewater Business Support, you'll apply your expertise in data analysis, process improvement, and business systems to drive efficiencies across operations.In this role, you will act as a bridge between technical and business teams, gathering requirements, analyzing data, and translating insights into actionable recommendations that enhance service delivery. You'll optimize workflows, develop performance metrics, and implement best practices through data collection and evaluation, enabling strategic improvements and supporting new initiatives.

In this role you’ll:
- Lead process documentation and optimization/standardization efforts related to operational and maintenance processes (including locate processes).
- Provide operational support, including reviewing operational procedures (i.e. data collection, workflows, metrics) to the section related to the identification, assessment, evaluation, and recommendations of actions related to emerging issues, and new initiatives.
- Gather, review and analyze operations related data, including KPIs, financial reports and other key metrics using data analytics tools.
- Sectional lead for benchmarking data collection initiatives and best management practices evaluation.
- Assess operational practices and data and identify recommendations that will optimize maintenance activities and budgets.
- Assess internal and external resources and cost impacts of programs/activities and provides recommendations for program and activity enhancements.
- Develop forms and applications utilizing Microsoft PowerApps and build workflows utilizing Microsoft Power Automate.
- Support the implementation of the Region’s Work Order Management (Maximo) system and act as the technical expert for the Operations teams including providing workflow recommendations, data needs, configuration and assist with technical and functional support.
- Prepare, review, edit and coordinate reports and activities relating to W/WW Operations budgets such as the tri-annual report, identify R&E progress for Operations cost centers, recommend future Capital and Operating budget needs.
- Implement and support of various technology applications utilizing the Microsoft Power Platform such as digital work orders and other applications used by W/WW Operations.
- Triage, help scope and prioritize system enhancement requests or process improvements, solutioning and development and rollout of enhancements.
- Participate in departmental and divisional initiatives.
- Act as project lead for special projects.
- Assist in the preparation of council reports, procurement awards, technical summaries, and various memos.
- Research and compile information for special assignments such as external requests for information relating to W/WW, budget and accomplishment reports, benchmarking etc.
- Liaise with various agencies to research initiatives.
- Respond to internal clients and customer service inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
What the role requires:
- Completion of a Business Administration or similar degree focusing on research, analysis and continuous improvement with at least 3- 5 years’ experience or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and background of Water and Wastewater operational, maintenance and performance practices to ensure long-term sustainability is an asset.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including Water and Wastewater, Environmental, Health and Safety and Labour.
- Knowledge of business/financial principles and practices as they relate to the water transmission and distribution systems.
- Strong working knowledge in MS Office 365 Platform (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, PowerApps, SharePoint, Power Automate), Work Management Systems, GIS and, ERP systems.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and effective presentation and public relation skills with the ability to deal effectively and courteously with regional, provincial, and federal officials, other government agencies, the public and staff.
- Work in collaboration with internal and external parties.
- Monitor and report on the section’s targets for quality and productivity.
