Adecco is actively seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for our client based in Mississauga, ON. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering a competitive wage of $37.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating large CNC Vertical Boring Mills, machining large complex components, and ensuring precision and safety in all operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate large CNC Vertical Boring Mills to machine heavy products, ranging from 5 to 60 tons, according to specifications provided in Job Travelers, Drawings, and Sketches.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and symbols related to tolerances and surface finishes to ensure accurate machining of complex parts.
  • Conduct pre-inspection of parts to ensure they meet product compliance requirements before initiating the machining process.
  • Ensure that the appropriate tooling and equipment are in place and escalate any tooling or procedural issues to the supervisor.
  • Machine products efficiently, adhering to best practices to ensure cost-effectiveness throughout the machining process.
  • Understand and modify CNC programs as needed to adapt to changes in specifications or requirements.
  • Verify part dimensions using precision measuring instruments and adjust processes to maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring chip removal, cleanliness, and safe storage of materials. Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Perform routine machine checks as part of a preventative maintenance program and ensure all equipment is well-maintained, including lubrication, cleaning, and coolant checks.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes to position and move large components during setup and machining.
  • Follow established safety practices and report any unsafe working conditions or practices to management to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.
  • A minimum of 5 years of CNC custom machining experience, specifically with machine setup and operation of CNC Boring Mills (horizontal). Experience working with large and complex components is essential.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and work with blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications, including symbols related to tolerances and surface finishes.
  • A solid understanding of tooling requirements and the ability to modify and edit CNC programs to ensure efficient machining.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a focus on precision and maintaining high-quality standards in machining processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining focus on quality and safety standards.
  • A General Machinist Certification is considered an asset.
  • A strong commitment to adhering to safety procedures, maintaining a safe workspace, and reporting hazards as necessary.
  • Previous experience operating overhead cranes is an asset, but not required.
