Job Description:

Salary Range: $39.07 - $56.00

As a key member of the Endoscopy Team, the Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Endoscopy unit in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs.

The successful incumbent continually assesses and monitors the patient´s condition throughout the endoscopic procedures and assures patient safety.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum of two (2) years current Endoscopy experience required
  • Certificate from a recognized Community College in Post Anesthetic Recovery Room Care required or willing to obtain
  • Experience assessing/monitoring patients post conscious sedation
  • Experience developing/delivering patient teaching material
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection control guidelines/practices in an Endoscopy setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge related to the handling of biopsy specimens
  • Membership with Canadian Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (CSGNA) an asset
  • Knowledge of Meditech, PICIS and ENDOPRO required
  • Current basic cardiac life support certificate required
  • Basic cardiac arrhythmia knowledge required
  • Completion of assessment courses with proven assessment skills required
  • CMH certified to initiate intravenous lines and administer intravenous medications required
  • Must demonstrate evidence of clinical reasoning, problem solving and expanded clinical leadership
  • Ability to work in a self-directed and fast paced outpatient environment essential
  • Outstanding organizational skills required
  • Regular attendance is required
