About the Role
MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding.Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.
We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.
The Program Manager will act as project leader in the program management of automotive assembly programs, utilizing their strong technical and people skills to manage customer programs from design / concept stage through installation and commissioning of automated assembly equipment on the customer shop floor.
Your Responsibilities- Lead launch and buy off activity; organizing programs from concept to production, including customer liaison, design, budgeting and product review
- Present oneself in a professional business manner at all times, developing customer relationships that provide satisfaction, quality, and company profitability
- Establish and maintain effective communication with customers, internal departments, and suppliers regarding various elements of manufacturing product design process (feasibility reviews, cost control, engineering changes, continuous improvement initiatives, etc.)
- Through innovation, coordination and teamwork eliminate customer quality concerns, and tooling build process issues to exceed our customer expectations. Ensure that the corrective actions have been taken, and followed up for completion
- Promote cost savings activities
- Estimate and monitor costs and hours to complete programs
- Develop and maintain a sound understanding of customer's products, specifications, and processing parameters
- Research new or different equipment and technologies for future competitiveness
- Attend monthly management meetings and provide updates on department initiatives / goals
- Ensure ISO Standard Operating Procedures are followed by Team Members
- Maintain timesheets and attendance records
- Set a positive example for your Team Members at all times
- Motivate and encourage open, honest regular communication amongst your Team Members by having them discuss their questions, concerns and suggestions in a positive friendly manner at all times
- Ensure that the roles and responsibilities of Team Members are carried out with accuracy, professionalism and success through the use of both leadership and management methods
- Know how to perform your Team's assigned tasks in a safe manner, ensuring all safety hazards or unsafe situations are addressed immediately. What types of Personal Protective Equipment are required, and ensure that your Team Members are using them properly
- Instruct and monitor your Team to ensure they are following the safety rules, standards and procedures at all times
- Make certain work areas are kept clean, promote good housekeeping practices along with all Team Members
- Maintain Team Member confidentiality, treating all Team Members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect
- Administer progressive discipline in a fair and consistent manner without favouritism and ensure it is conducted privately / away from others to maintain confidentiality and employee self-esteem
- Provide each Team Member with performance feedback on a regular basis. Complete annual performance appraisals and return to Human resources by the scheduled deadline
- Achieve the continuous improvement benchmark of 80% or higher on each category and no less than 50% on any individual question on the Employee Opinion Survey
- Promote the Job Posting Policy by ensuring decisions are made without favouritism and by providing unsuccessful candidates with open honest feedback to help them succeed in future job opportunities
- Supervise Team Members in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Massiv Automated Systems' Employee Handbook
- Understand, promote and work by Magna's Philosophies, Corporate Constitution and Employee Charter
- Encourage and support the use of the Fairness Committee
- Promote the "Open Door" Environment
- Perform other related duties as required
Who we are looking for
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Mechanical Engineering Degree / Diploma or Recognized Certificate of Qualification in a Mechanical trade
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in automotive assembly / tooling manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of GD&T / CMM inspection reports
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto CAD and Visual Manufacturing System
- Strong interpersonal skills providing leadership and direction through verbal and written communication
- Ability to tactfully conduct business activities in a professional manner; with diplomacy / integrity required
- Effectively prioritize, and manage organizing multiple tasks with appropriate scheduling
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment
