What you will be doing:
- Manage all environmental issues associated with the project on a day-to-day basis
- Ensure that environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the project design, schedule and construction requirements
- Implement the Environmental Protection Plan
- Oversee the environmental monitoring and follow up program in accordance with the environmental law and applicable permits, licenses and approvals
- Monitors, coordinates, implements and audits environmental programs
- Establish and maintain working relationships for liaising with government authorities and various stakeholders
- Ensure effective communication with the Client on environmental matters, prepare and submit monthly environmental reports to the client
- Prepare and submit all reports required under the Construction Environmental Management Plan
- Establish and maintain public and other stakeholder consultation processes as required
- Coordinate environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction on behalf of the project
- Direct the project’s environmental program, inform the project management of environmental issues and solutions involving the development of the project
- Create and maintain appropriate reference files for all environmental issues and actions taken on the project
- Act as the project’s representative at environmental and regulatory hearings
- Participate in and/or provide direction to others conducting environmental considerations, review site needs, including identify and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and knowledge
- Provide recommendations for implementation of corrective actions and suggest program improvements
- Conduct internal environmental audits identify and manage environmental risk
- Verify and monitor environmental training requirements
- Manage and mentor the project environmental team
- Perform other duties as required
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in either Environmental Engineering or Science, or other related discipline
- PEng or PGO designation is required
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
- Experience managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with development of mitigation measures and monitoring plans
- Comprehensive working knowledge of environmental acts, regulations, permits and approvals applicable to construction in Ontario
- Knowledge of soil and water contaminants
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking experience
- Strong mentoring skills
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle competing priorities
