Managing Director, Institutional Sales
What You'll Be Doing:
The Managing Director, Institutional Sales role at Stifel Canada is both challenging and stimulating. You will build relationships with stakeholders, drive strategic growth and bring a creative and entrepreneurial sales approach to the growing capital markets desk.You will have an established client coverage network and have the drive to explore new relationships within Canada and the U.S. You will be responsible for the company’s full sales cycle, targeting enterprise clients, such as institutional clients, hedge funds and corporate clients.
You will be working in a dynamic team environment and will be working closely with the research and trading teams. This individual is an exceptional leader who will be responsible for building the sales strategy from the ground up and creating a portfolio of relationships for the company.

What We're Looking For:
The Managing Director, Institutional Sales will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Manage all aspects of the sales process including road show marketing, conference calls, investor meetings;
- Develop and execute on an effective sales strategy and drive revenue through customer acquisition;
- Providing market insights and strategic advice to executives;
- Work closely with the research team to organize and present investment ideas to Institutional Investors;
- Collect data and analyze information to increase performance;
- Represent Stifel at relevant events in order to network with clients, build brand awareness, and communicate our value story to potential clients;
- Listen carefully to prospects and clients to provide feedback to management and help prioritize functionality needed to drive sales opportunities;
- Build and maintain long term trusting relationships with all types of buy side firms and corporate clients while also being proficient at developing internal relationships across the Stifel platform; and
- Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.

The ideal candidate for this role would describe themselves as sharp, diligent and tenacious.- Experience transacting in equities in both an agency and principal capacity;
- Existing relationships with Canadian and US institutional clients is an asset;
- Experience in developing & maintaining strategic & business plans;
- Outgoing personality, with the ability to prospect for new clients and establish new revenue generating relationships;
- A high level of energy and entrepreneurial motivation;
- Strong writing skills, especially the ability to generate written material quickly and concisely;
- Solid time management, communication, interpersonal and team player skills;
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment to prospect for new clients and establish new revenue generating relationships;
- Able to excel in high-pressure situations.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Required: Undergraduate degree in business, focus on economics, finance or related field.
- Additional post-secondary education including MBA, or CFA or CPA are strongly desirable but not necessary.
- Minimum Required: 8+ years of institutional sales experience covering Canadian institutional from a broad equity standpoint is an asset (specific sector expertise in technology, industrials and special situations, mining or consumer products nice to have).
Licenses & Certifications:
- Minimum Required: FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
- Minimum Required: CSC and CPH.
Systems & Technology:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Prior experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM database tracking revenue and interactions.
