Procurement and Inventory Coordinator
The Procurement & Inventory Coordinator is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over activities pertaining to Pharmacy Services drug purchasing and inventory control provincially. It is a provincial leadership role in the Provincial Operations unit and reports directly to the Manager, Procurement and Inventory.
The position supports the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services and is responsible and accountable for making unit- level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals and strategic planning of Pharmacy Services.

HealthPRO) and Pharmacy Services staff.
The position manages the provincial Drug Backorder Database and is responsible for the monitoring of provincial drug inventories and coordinates the movement of inventory within the province to mitigate the patient care impact of drug shortages.
The position requires independent and unsupervised work under minimal direction with the occasional need to lead projects to completion.
The Procurement and Inventory Coordinator is for Registered Pharmacy Technicians only- do not apply unless you are a registered pharmacy technician.
The main responsibilities are: Managing the provincial Back Order Database.
Monitoring of provincial drug inventories and coordinating the movement of inventory within the province to mitigate the impact of drug shortages.Providing leadership and direction in the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for purchasing and inventory management and implementing those standards.
Assisting with quality control and improvement programs related to inventory and drug distribution.
Reviewing the performance of Group Purchasing Organizations (e.g.
HealthPRO & Mohawk Medbuy) including contractual issues and any service details that will have impact on the contract, the financial arrangement and services to AHS Pharmacy Services.
Acting as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
Management of exception reporting of manufacturer, wholesaler/distributor and vendor performance.
Required to be a graduate of a recognized pharmacy technician school and registered and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing and inventory management is required, preferably in a health care setting.

Completion of a program in a business-related field (e.g.
Business Management Diploma) is considered an asset.
Knowledge of Epic Willow Inventory module and inventory flow.
Familiarity with Oracle purchasing and the General Ledger would be an asset.
