Manager - Respiratory Therapy - Brampton

Reporting to the Director, Acute General Medicine, Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the Clinical Services Manager will have overall accountability and responsibility for the management of the human, fiscal and material resources and provide leadership required to meet the operational, strategic and performance needs of all areas of respiratory services across the corporation (pulmonary function tests, asthma, and COPD clinics, and in-patient clinical respiratory therapy).

The successful candidate will also have primary responsibility for professional governance and the quality of professional practice delivered by the members of the discipline, facilitate the advancement of professional practice and enhance interdisciplinary processes across the organization for the purpose of improving patient outcomes.

Accountabilities:

  • Develops and implements the functional and strategic plans and/or initiatives for relevant areas in consultation/collaboration with the director, physician partners and team members
  • Defines the organizational supports and structures required for relevant areas in consultation/collaboration with the director
  • Monitors client/family and staff satisfaction programs in relevant areas and organizes improvement opportunities as appropriate
  • Fosters an engaged workforce, seeking opportunities for improvement, staff development and support
  • Promotes a collaborative and respectful professional practice climate and fosters an interdisciplinary approach to safe patient care and patient/family experience
  • Hires, orients and manages staff performance as determined by human resource policies, union contracts, legislation and standards of practice
  • Develops, monitors, controls and evaluates budgets and staffing plans in consultation and collaboration with the Director and organizational partners
  • Develops processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for delivering and enhancing patient care
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the relevant areas, the program and the organization
  • Develops performance criteria for the relevant areas in consultation/collaboration with the director, physician partners and team members and is accountable for monitoring, planning, implementing and evaluating strategies to reach performance targets
  • Acts as counsel for professional practice leader/issues by providing guidance, advice and recommendations to individuals, teams and the organization
  • In collaboration with the professional practice leader approves and annually reviews credentials for the professionals and ensures the quality of professional practice
  • Addresses customer service issues in collaboration with Patient Experience office and team members and is proactive in ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the service, the program and the corporation
  • Represents respiratory therapy services within and outside of the organization
  • Health discipline professional designation
  • Undergraduate degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five years recent managerial/supervisory experience and clinical experience and knowledge in acute care professional practice in respiratory therapy
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and foster strong and positive customer/partner/staff relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning and project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and change management skills
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate data
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative, collaborative leader, which encourages commitment to a shared vision
  • Evidence of collaboration across multiple disciplines/divisions/programs/services
  • Demonstrated commitment to research based practice and patient centered care
  • Demonstrated commitment to practice advancement
  • Demonstrated ability to develop standards, protocols, policies and procedures
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
  • Ability to travel between all Osler sites
  • A combination of experience and academic qualifications will be considered

Hours: Currently days, Monday to Friday, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:

Minimum: $113,061.00/yearly
Maximum: $141,336.00/yearly
