About the Position:

This position will play a key role in the RB&W’s Materials Department driving productivity, cost management, and profitability, while addressing operational needs and delivering on the promise to exceed customer expectations. This is undertaken through the optimal utilization of tools and applications to ensure effective decision making and business function.

Specific Responsibilities, But Not Limited To:

Create and maintain production jobs and complete planning analysis to determine optimal planning actions to maximize material availability/production completions while ensuring adherence to the production schedule. The Production Planner will work together with Materials, Production alongside with IT to ensure continuous material supply to support customer demands.

  • Release manufacturing orders to the shop floor; monitor production schedules and expedite the flow of materials and orders through the shop to ensure ship dates are met, including communicating and facilitating issues.
  • Schedule incoming raw materials and assist Purchasing in scheduling outside processes.
  • Expedite materials and parts as needed to support ship dates.
  • Advise management of problems or concerns relating to conformance to established plans.
  • Initiate and/or support Order Change Form requirements and coordinates activity with manufacturing.
  • Monitor output and currently planned job order execution.
  • Coordinate contingency plans to achieve delivery promises when important deviations occur, or properly adjust due dates in the system and inform Customer Service of the changes.
  • Work as a resource to Customer Service to provide production/shipping dates when requested.
  • Daily review and planning of customer demand versus current production schedule and make updates and corrections as required in cooperation with Master Schedule.
  • Fully support and communicate with the Manufacturing team to achieve production schedule.
  • Identify potential raw material shortages and escalate it to responsible team members for resolution and change to production schedule.
  • Materials: manage specific production functions including, planning, and work order distribution; work closely with Manufacturing and Cross functional departments.
  • Production: maintain valid production schedules; expedite production processes in support of the company’s goals and mission; and advise departments in order to most efficiently reach production goals
  • Assist management and supervision in implementing continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform special assignments and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Materials and Supply Chain Management
  • 3+ years of experience with ERP systems, PRP, MRP, and managing inventory with the ability to understand reports
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in an automotive environment as asset
  • Working knowledge of the Materials/Purchasing modules in ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of Materials Resource Planning (MRP)
  • PLEX ERP system experience considered an asset (not mandatory)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to synthesize data
  • Organized and task oriented
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives and projects concurrently ensuring that timelines are balanced with resource constraints and resulting deadlines are met
  • Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement, involving broad based information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change
  • Good analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Strong ability to focus on detail, accuracy, and take initiative.
  • Communication skills sufficient to deal with external and internal suppliers on issues pertaining to expediting and shipping product
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory
