Sr. Technical Systems Engineer/Architect to develop, recommend, implement and manage technical architecture for multiple building control system platforms - RQ00116 Location: Toronto (Hybrid 3 days per week on-site) Duration: 6 months (2025-02-17 to 2025-08-15) Hours: 7.25 per day Summary: Develops, recommends, implements, and manages the technical architecture (hardware, software, database network, security and communications) and specification used as design standard(s) for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment.
Responsibilities also include the identification of relevant information and the determination of the systems, devices, and technology environment(s), which will be used to reflect existing as is and planned to be design, development, and implementation.Development of standards specifications document(s) to support technology compliance. Responsibilities: Facilitation experience in working with diverse teams to co-ordinate the development and implementation of a common technical architecture at the various technical levels Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large multi-domain system environments Experience defining performance measurement methods, SLA’s, and specifications across different domains and environments Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices Knowledge and experience with processes supporting Service Management, ITIL, and operations Experience translating business requirements into system specifications and reporting Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models Experience developing, recommending, implementing, and managing technical architecture specifications including developing enterprise architecture deliverables Outputs Produces technical specification documents, architectural models, technology roadmaps, project plan, presentation materials Obtains approvals and endorsements for outputs and I&IT technology standards Other additional supplementary materials.
Must have skills: 3+ completed implementations of secure access control systems with at least 500 distributed access points across multiple remote sites. 2+ implementations of building automation systems with at least 500 control points . Hands-on experience with access control, automation control systems, networking, and cabling products (e.g., Cisco, HP, Aruba, Juniper). Expertise in open standards and protocols for secure access and automation (ISA/IEC 62443, BACnet, MODbus, OPC, SCADA, ONVIF).
Strong experience authoring technical specifications, architecture documents, and enterprise standards . Experience with monitoring critical systems such as access control, intrusion detection, fire alarms, elevator systems, CCTV, and environmental controls.Knowledge of ITIL, service management processes, and enterprise architecture best practices . Strong facilitation and communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to have: Experience ensuring compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and industry regulations.
Hands-on expertise in integrating access control and automation systems with cloud-based environments. Background in industrial digital control systems, programmable logic controllers, and transportation systems. Apply
