Senior Construction Inspector

What Your Day Will Look Like:

• Note: We will consider candidates from all geographic regions of Ontario; Eastern, Northern, Western, Northwest, Northeast and Central.

Responsibilities include reviewing and approving construction plans, monitoring project progress, identifying and resolving technical issues, and preparing detailed reports to document findings and recommendations.

What You'll Do:

• - Checks and inspects construction activities, operations, and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Conducts site surveys, confirms the scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment, and materials, and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed.
• Performs all required construction tests including granular density test with nuclear gauge, dowel pull test, and concrete tests, as required.
• Compiles field/test data in a report form for review by the Contract Administrator
• Liaises/coordinates with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed in accordance with the terms of reference, specifications, or agreement.
• Attends site meetings as required.
• Obtains video / photographic records as required.
• Records, reviews, and addresses contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor.
• Reports to the Contract Administrator or/and project manager
• Receives general direction on key objectives, guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex issues, direction on modified techniques and approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
• Assigns tasks to and directs staff. Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of team members' work

What You'll Need:

• - Post Secondary degree or diploma/degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
• Ability to meet deadlines independently and under pressure.
• Familiar with field construction activities.
• A certified technician or technologist with OACETT (C Tech/CET), Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designation; or EIT/P.Eng with PEO
• Demonstrated Senior Inspector experience on 3 or more similar MTO or municipal projects or equivalent.
• Able to work on weekends and nights, as required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and detailed-oriented
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office
• A valid Ontario driver's license (G License)
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (a plus)
• ACI field testing certificate (a plus)
• Willingness to learn new aspects of the industry.
• Willingness to travel throughout Ontario is a requirement of this position.
• Able to work collaboratively and participate in collaborative efforts. Must understand role and be willing to mentor/generously share knowledge with teammates. Willingness to give credit to others and work to build relationships within team.
• Climbing up/down embankments, ladders, and stairs is a requirement.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs is a requirement.
