This role will oversee end-to-end program and project execution to ensure seamless implementation of cutting-edge technologies, optimize operational processes, and drive value creation while maintaining regulatory compliance and enhancing the client experience.
The role demands a visionary leader capable of aligning business goals with technological advancements and operational excellence while collaborating with stakeholders from across RBC to be successful.
What will you do?- Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Establish a long-term vision for leveraging technology to enhance operational performance, business agility, and client experience.
- Develop and articulate a strategic roadmap for digital transformation aligned with business objectives and market trends.
- Develop and execute business enablement strategies to support the growth and scalability of Capital Markets Operations and businesses, including managing annual investment expenses and initiative prioritization
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, trends and technologies to drive competitive advantage and support business growth ambitions
- Design and oversee a business architecture framework to ensure it supports the strategic goals and operational efficiency target from an end to end perspective which may include upstream and downstream stakeholder environments
- Advocate for digital transformation, internally through committees across the RBC Enterprise, and externally through panel representation on industry events
- Apply automation, AI, and RPA to streamline trade processing, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, business units, and technology teams to prioritize investment initiatives and ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Contribute to the Capital Markets Data strategy to ensure alignment of critical quality and controls standards are implemented throughout the operational environment
- Technology Innovation & Delivery
- Manage program governance structures, ensuring effective decision-making, managing interdependencies and risk management.
- Design, lead, and execute large-scale digital transformation programs from inception through delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timeline.
- Lead the integration of advanced technologies such as blockchain, AI, machine learning, and cloud computing into Capital Markets operations.
- Oversee the migration from legacy systems to modern platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to business continuity.
- Develop scalable frameworks and repeatable processes to manage transformation initiatives across geographies and functions.
- Drive accountability across teams for achieving milestones, deliverables, and KPI and leverage and use data to identify trends in performance and areas for improving capability delivery.
- Promote and implement agile methodologies to ensure rapid delivery of solutions while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
- Manage relationships, contracts and SLAs with technology providers, consultants, and fintech partners to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Risk and Compliance Management
- Achieve significant improvements in operational efficiency and client satisfaction through solutions that do not compromise on risk, regulatory or compliance obligations.
- Progress all transformation programs through the internal risk governance frameworks to ensure adherence to RBC standards.
- Conduct regular initiative risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential disruptions during execution.
- Successfully implement a scalable and common business architecture framework that supports global regulatory reporting regime requirements
- Collaborate with technology partners to ensure advanced security measures are implemented that safeguard operational and client data.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy standards across all transformation initiatives.
- Talent Development and Organizational Change
- Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing teams specializing in program delivery, project management, and digital transformation.
- Foster a collaborative, high-energy culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute change management plans to ensure successful adoption of new technologies and workflows.
- Engage stakeholders across levels to minimize resistance and maximize organizational readiness for transformation.
- Design targeted training programs to enhance employees’ technical skills and familiarity with digital tools.
- Promote a mindset of agility, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Data Governance, Controls, and Management
- Establish and lead a robust data governance framework to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and compliance.
- Implement strong data controls to mitigate operational and regulatory risks, including reconciliation checks, data lineage tracking, and automated exception handling.
- Develop and monitor key data quality metrics to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and business requirements.
- Leverage advanced tools and technologies for real-time monitoring and resolution of data discrepancies.
- Build scalable data architectures to support analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making and implement tools for data cataloging, metadata management, and data visualization.
- Collaborate with client teams to develop client-facing solutions tailored to specific client needs, enhancing service delivery and satisfaction.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, including policies, controls, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience managing large datasets, building data architectures, and implementing tools for data validation and exception management.
- Deep knowledge of trade lifecycle processes, data reconciliation, and regulatory reporting requirements in capital markets.
What do you need to succeed?
Leadership in Execution and Delivery:
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end execution of large-scale, complex transformation programs within financial services.
- Extensive experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle, from strategy and design to implementation and post-launch optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage program budgets exceeding $50M, ensuring adherence to financial targets and timelines.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of capital markets operations, including trade lifecycle management, clearing and settlement systems, and reporting processes.
- Experience implementing cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, blockchain, RPA, and cloud-based solutions, to enhance operational efficiency.
Program Management Skills:
- Expertise in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Hands-on experience with agile, waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Strong command of tools and platforms for program management, such as JIRA, MS Project, or equivalent.
Leadership and Team Building:
- A strong leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, and align diverse teams across geographies.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and develop talent in a competitive environment.
Stakeholder and Vendor Management:
- Skilled in building and managing relationships with C-suite executives, regulators, vendors, and technology partners.
- Proven experience negotiating contracts and ensuring vendor performance aligns with project goals.
