Financial Analyst, Real Estate Developments
This role will have the opportunity to interact closely with the Development team, the Investment team and the Finance Funds team and Accounts Payable.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and genuinely curious; that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; has the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize and work under timelines. The individual is detail and process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work; and has a strong foundation accounting and reporting.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain the books of record for land and construction development projects including ownership of the construction general ledger, accounts payable and financing functions for Fengate’s real estate development projects.
- Oversight and mapping of any third-party accounting providers, bank Reconciliations, filing HST returns and lead CRA audits
- Prepare financials and reporting packages to management and partners with high attention to detail
- Prepare monthly draw funding packages for construction lenders and investment partners while reconciling invoices to approved budgets, providing value add commentary and context for reviewers
- Update, reconcile, and maintain project budgets and prepare reconciliations between general ledger, construction manager and certified third party issued reports
- Coordinate timely funding of debt to ensure cash management for respective portfolio meets current period costs
- Assist in the creation, maintenance and compliance of master workbooks and take initiative to assist the team to streamline all tasks. Work with the development team to deliver best in class financial support and thoughtfully attend to their questions
- Liaison with AP closely to organize, code, and submit vendor invoices for payment in a timely manner
- Set up of bank accounts, CRA accounts and entities for new development projects
- Assist with any year end audit requests for all development projects
- Perform ad hoc accounting and analytical procedures as requested by management
- Undergraduate degree completed in accounting or finance is required
- Further education and/or working towards accreditations, enrollment in CPA program with proven progression through the program
- Minimum of one year in development or corporate accounting experience required
- Knowledge of ASPE or other generally accepted accounting principles is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Location & Travel:
The position will be based out of the Oakville office. Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are allowed to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
