Your opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation Infrastructure Design group is looking for a Transportation Designer/Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation projects for provincial (MTO) and Ontario municipalities including environmental assessments, preliminary and detailed design of highway infrastructure, interchanges and intersections.

At Dillon, we operate as one team nationally, however, this position will be based out of our London or Kingston office.

Responsibilities:

What your day will look like

Technical Project Work
  • Complete preliminary and detailed designs for freeways, urban and rural multilane and two-lane facilities, interchanges, and intersections for MTO and local municipalities
  • Prepare technical reports, design drawings, design quantities, and contract documents
  • Interact with clients, approval agencies, utility companies, contractors and other stakeholders, as required
  • Provide support and oversight of junior staff working on transportation projects
  • Interact regularly with project team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and various support staff
Business Development
  • Contribute technical expertise to business development activities including responding to requests for proposals, preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of strong client relationships
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
Learning & Development
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications:

What you will need to succeed
  • A diploma in civil engineering technology
  • Certified as a C.E.T. or eligible within six months
  • A minimum of five years' professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry
  • Demonstrated aptitude for, and interest in, business development

Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge in preliminary and detail design work of municipal and provincial transportation facilities
  • Experience in the geometric design of highways, municipal roads and intersections
  • Experience with highway design software including InRoads and Civil3D
  • Proven experience and in-depth technical knowledge and capabilities in highway/transportation design including policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures
