The opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Application Development, the Sr Manager will work closely with business analysts, project managers, cross-functional and technical teams to mentor and guide the development team.

The role
  • Manage and coordinate development requirements among the development team to respect project timeline, code, technical documentation, and testing processes quality.
  • Manage and apply Gildan software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology and standards for programming and documentation.
  • Validate the stability and the integrity of our ERP as well as some other applications connected to it like label printing, document layouts and archiving, scanning of inventory transactions in manufacturing branches.
  • Identify interface risks and check ERP security.
  • Validate the efficiency and fluidity of transaction processing; create monitoring tools in order to be proactive in incident management.
  • Ensure the appropriate support of all phases of implementation for small or big projects (Pre and Post implementation activities)
  • Prepare support rotation schedules, manage the follow-up of incidents, and ensure the appropriate support for priority one incidents.
  • Work closely with suppliers and other IT departments to support upgrades, OS or infrastructure changes on applications owned by the ERP development team.
  • Manage a team of professional, train and mentor team members to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
The requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience and at least 5 years ERP experience (JD Edwards World or E1 is an asset)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management role and leading a team of professionals.
  • Good understanding of business process.
  • Knowledge of IBM Iseries machines (AS400) and DB2 is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex problems: knowledge of enterprise systems, software development, and IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to mentor the team in all development phases, including functional and technical documentation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with all IT groups of the organization. Good interpersonal skills and a desire to collaborate and share with others in a matrixed team environment.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities; drives change and builds enthusiasm among the team to increase the adoption of it.
  • Knowledge of SDLC processes and SOX compliance rules.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Project management skills are an asset.
  • Able to travel worldwide for few weeks per year depending on projects.
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Written and oral skills in English (French and/or Spanish are assets)
  • This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
