Why Fraser Health?:

We are currently seeking a Medical Director to bring clinical expertise and a passion for providing quality, compassionate care and culturally supportive health services to new Canadians at the New Canadian Clinic in Burnaby.

We provide medical care and social support to new Canadians through temporary attachment. Our clinic provides health management, education and self management support for individuals and families, including pregnant women, mothers with newborns and children under five.

The clinic also supports the transition and attachment of individuals and families to other health care providers in their community.

Our talented and caring team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and clerical staff who work together using a team-based care model.

As a collaborative and driven leader, the Medical Director will champion timely access to comprehensive, person-centred, culturally safe and quality care for newcomers in in the diverse and growing community of Burnaby.

This exciting and pivotal medical leadership opportunity is open to both Physician and Nurse Practitioner applicants.

Physician Qualifications:

  • Current licensure with CPSBC and Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP) plus two (2) years leadership experience within the healthcare sector;
  • Demonstrated leadership in roles to lead and move forward organizational change in primary care, preferably with experience in refugee care;
  • Sound working knowledge of running a primary care clinic including staffing, budgeting, quality improvement activity and service delivery;
  • Proven verbal and written communication and presentation skills within a leadership capacity.
  • Recent relevant clinical experience, preferably within refugee care.

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:

  • Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM);
  • Demonstrated leadership in roles to lead and move forward organizational change in primary care;
  • Sound working knowledge of running a primary care clinic including staffing, budgeting, quality improvement activity and service delivery;
  • Proven verbal and written communication and presentation skills within a leadership capacity;
  • Recent relevant clinical experience, preferably within refugee care.

Compensation: Service Contract

Qualifications/Credentials: CCFP, CMPA, CPSBC Eligible for Full License
