OVERVIEW

Through the collaborative efforts of Peel Human Trafficking Service Provider Committee (PHTSPC) and the Region of Peel, Peel has opened an integrated service HUB for victims and survivors of sexual exploitation. The goal is to improve access to services and supports for victims and survivors in one safe location.

MISSION

We are partnering with our client in search of an Anti-Human Trafficking Youth in Transition Worker who will directly support youth aged 15-24 at high risk for being sexually exploited and/or sex trafficked, who are transitioning out of the child welfare system into adulthood.

This position involves providing comprehensive case management and support with accessing adult service systems navigation. The incumbent will help youth establish goals, provide intervention, crisis support, access community services, and advocate for the youth to achieve independence.

This is a full-time position with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a compassionate and resourceful individual to immerse themselves in a collaborative that is dedicated to improving the lives of people impacted by sexual exploitation through community services and support to fulfill the role of the Anti-Human Trafficking Youth in Worker.

PRIORITIES
  • Meet with youth on-site, in the community, and/or in the neighbourhood to develop individualized goals and development plans to ensure a successful transition into adulthood.
  • Support identifying the youth’s needs, and desired referrals to on-site and off-site partners for service, in coordination with the case managers.
  • Provide individualized case management, including safety planning, risk assessment, and goal setting.
  • Conduct therapeutic, trauma-informed risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Assist youth in accessing housing, education, employment, life skills training, health and mental health, and legal services.
  • Facilitate connections with community resources and wraparound supports.
  • Collaborate with Children’s Aid Societies (CAS), law enforcement, local community agencies, and cross-sectoral partners to ensure seamless service delivery and inform of the YITW program to make effective referrals.
  • Conduct outreach and foster relationships with marginalized communities, including BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ populations.
  • Offer 24/7 crisis intervention and practical assistance during critical periods.
  • Advocate for youth, ensuring access to culturally relevant and anti-oppressive resources.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to program evaluations and service improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Social Services or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience with victims of human trafficking and case management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human trafficking, gender-based violence, experience working with victims and survivors of human trafficking, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of housing first for youth, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction practices.
  • Experience supporting youth experiencing chronic homelessness, mental illness and substance usage in obtaining housing, employment, educational and community opportunities.
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including some weekends and holidays.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and $2,000,000 (minimum) liability car insurance coverage are mandatory.
  • Valid CPI/ UMAB and First Aid/ CPR certifications.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to applicable legislation.
