Machine Operator

Job Summary:
The Operator position is a continuum beginning at Machine operator Entrance and progressing through Machine Operator 4 as skills are gained. Employees may be assigned to perform any task for which they have been qualified. Employees may also be assigned to positions for which they are working to become qualified as a portion of the training process.

Responsibilities:
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the machine operations to see that the finished products and components are aptly matching with the quality and quantity constraints of the company.
- Adjusting the operating speed and controlling the load of the machines and run the line at optimum speed.
- Operate, changeover and troubleshoot packaging lines in a fast-paced team environment.
- Arranging and setting up the material handling equipment and machinery
- Providing minor specifications to upgrade the systems as required.
- Examining and discarding defective goods and packaging components and reporting it to QAs.
- Replenishing, stocking, and sorting the packaging supplies.
- Recalibrating and cleaning the machineries after completing the production activities.
- Maintain activity logs & complete daily record keeping.
- Fix issues by assisting maintenance technicians that may arise during the shifts.
- Follows companies Business conduct and other HR and safety related policies.
- Other duties as assigned by shift supervisor.
- As assigned to meet business demands.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in servicing or manufacturing of packaging machinery
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of robotic systems is desirable.
- Working knowledge of servo drives and control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic maintenance skills strongly preferred.
- Team player - understanding the benefits of a unified workforce.
- Highly motivated, success driven style.
- Lean Manufacturing background a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb a ladder, and use catwalks of various heights.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, an employee is typically exposed to dust, loud noise, outside weather conditions and hazardous materials, and may be exposed to high places. Works alone or as part of a team working in close proximity to others and works in close proximity with equipment.
Work Hours: Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.
Safety Equipment: Safety equipment typically required while performing the duties of this job includes a personal red lockout/tagout lock, ANSI approved hard hat and safety glasses with side shields, safety boots/shoes with steel toe protection as well as safety vest.Additional required equipment includes cut resistant gloves and dust masks when performing. Hearing protection is required when performing duties on the floor. Additional personal protective equipment is available for use if a situation arises where it becomes required or if it is simply desired by the employee.
Safety Training: A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is to be provided New Employee Training from a qualified individual, which consists of MTI onboarding and onsite training. It will include, but is not limited to, the following: forklift/mobile equipment operation and certification/licensing, hazard communication, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, electrical safety, lock out/tag out, personal protective equipment, fire fighting/extinguishers, machine safety, confined spaces, reporting of hazardous conditions, accidents, injuries, near-miss and property damage incidents, evacuation/emergency procedures, first aid, back injury prevention, and job/work area procedures.
Upon transferring to perform the duties of this position for the first time an employee is to be provided New Task Training by a qualified individual until the employee adequately understands the contents of the training, which include job/work area procedures and related topics.Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee’s position.
