Salary range: $75,000-$90,000 CAD (based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills).

What you will be doing:

  • Provide health and safety direction, support, and leadership to project supervisors, employees, and contractors
  • Support management in implementing, monitoring and improving the Project Safety Plan and Construction Safety Management System
  • Assist project management in directing contractors, visitors, and employees on project safety standards
  • Provide training support for assigned program areas, including new hire orientation
  • Participate in/or provide direction to others conducting incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
  • Guide Joint Health and Safety Committees on safety related matters
  • Work with client representatives and Ministry of Labour to resolve identified issues and opportunities
  • Consolidate safety reports
  • Conduct project level inspections and audits as required by safety program
  • Monitor, coordinate, and implement occupational safety and health programs

What we are looking for:

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification or equivalent certification from a recognized association or board, or working towards obtaining one
  • OFA level 2 certification preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR certifications, Level 1
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a safety role, preferably as a representative of the prime contractor/ constructor. Relevant work experience in the province of British Columbia is required
  • Experience working with Emergency First Responders
  • Experience with traffic management is preferred
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of laws and regulations regarding workplace health and safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Class 5 driver license is highly preferred
  • Availability to potentially work evenings, weekends and longer hours if required
