Maintenance Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Quality Assurance, and the Supervisor, Maintenance Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Specialist works in a dynamic team environment to support the effectiveness and continued improvement of daily activities within Porter Airlines Technical Operations team and associated external partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct internal audits encompassing all functions and elements necessary to confirm that the Air Operator and Approved Maintenance Organization is in compliance with regulations and approved manuals.
- Assist in maintaining detailed audit checklists.
- Provide support to Technical Operations Managers regarding the treatment of audit findings identified through the Maintenance Quality Assurance Program.
- Conduct external audits of external partners including but not limited to maintenance arrangements, manufacturers and overhaul/repair facilities.
- Attend regular Maintenance Quality Assurance team meetings, and quarterly "All Teams" meetings.
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
- Other tasks as assigned (to support daily activities of the Technical Operations team).

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field and/or acceptable combination of education, training and/or related work experience.
- General knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- General knowledge of FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).
- Familiarity with commercial flight operations and/or aircraft maintenance operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and work experience in quality management principles, quality assurance, and auditing techniques are considered an asset.
- Effective communication (written / verbal) and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Keen attention to detail is essential in this role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearance.
- Ability to maintain a valid passport and any necessary Visa document/s to travel internationally for work assignments when required.
