The Opportunity RVS invites applications for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/wk) Student Support Worker position to work a 10-month school calendar schedule for our Learning Supports department starting August 26, 2025. The successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License in order to provide services to all RVS locations.
The Student Support Worker will be required to bring to life strategies within the student’s behaviour support plan across a variety of learning environments. This may include proactive strategies to predict and prevent challenging behaviours, as well as implement safety plans when physical aggression does occur, One-to-One support is provided within the context of constructive relationships that engage and empower students and, as much as possible, promote their care and welfare, and uphold their individual rights.
Responsibilities Include Provides support to maintain student safety when a student is demonstrating significant trauma-impacted stress response, extreme emotional and/or behavioural dysregulation and/or acute levels of risk. Reinforces strategies as directed by the teacher(s) and identified in Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), Individualized Program Plans (IPP), Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), safety plans, and medical plans, in programming for the diverse needs of students.Implements teacher led modifications of IPPs and PLPs to meet the learning needs of the individual student(s). Implements behaviour management strategies for students as needed Records observations and other data on behavioural challenges and creates records that can be used to support positive behaviour strategies for students as directed by the teacher(s).
Supervises students under the direction of the teacher. Motivates and engages students to encourage the development of their positive behavioural, social, and emotional well-being, in consultation with the teacher(s). Willing and able to lift up to 50lbs.
