Status: Regular Part Time PositionsHours of work: up to 30 hours of work per week with various day, evening, holiday, and weekend shifts
Compensation: Start Rate: $30.23 Job Rate: $31.86
Location and Work Mode: onsite at 2 Copper Road, Brampton and 3190 Mavis Road, Mississauga

As an Accessible Transit Bus Driver, you'll be an essential part of empowering the Region of Peel’s passengers, helping them maintain their independence and mobility. Your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on their ability to reach important services, appointments, and daily activities with ease and comfort.You’ll provide safe, reliable transportation while delivering exceptional customer service, offering a caring hand, and treating each passenger with the respect and kindness they deserve. What you will do in this role:
- Complete and log circle check information at the beginning and end of each shift and report mechanical problems
- Log into Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) system at start and end of shift and communicate with dispatch during shift
- Interpret schedule, plan route and drive passengers to specified destinations assisting passengers when necessary
- Secure passengers and their mobility aids/accessories as required
- Execute duties in a tactful and courteous manner
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed by passengers
What the role requires:
- Valid Ontario Vehicle Operator's permit class "B","C", “E” or “F” license (Z endorsement as an asset) and a good driving record (current driver abstract required)
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent education to be considered, along with six months related experience
- Previous experience working in accessibility accommodation considered an asset
- Professional communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Physically able to perform the requirements of the position that includes pulling, pushing and bending
- Able to respond to emergency situations with minimum supervision
- Previous training in First Aid, CPR and defensive driving is preferred
- Good map-reading skills to help navigate routes
- Must successfully complete the TransHelp Driver Operator training program during probationary period
- Completion and satisfactory results of a Vulnerable Sector Search is required
- TransHelp provides door

- due to a physical, cognitive, visual, sensory or mental health disability.
