High Line Electrical Constructors Ltd is seeking an Estimator to join our team based out of the Nisku area, working on various estimating projects throughout Alberta. You must have good safety awareness, good communication & competent decision-making skills, and a desire to perform requested duties with a focus on safety and appropriate precautions.High Line offers competitive wages and a comprehensive benefit package.
Requirements- Prepare cost estimates.
- Review plans, specifications, standards, contracts, and other relevant documents.
- Obtain costs for materials, subcontractors and third-party services.
- Engage and negotiate with with suppliers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Review and compare incoming quotes and bills of material.
- Select suppliers and subcontractors quotes to be included in the final estimate.
- Perform quantity take-offs.
- Adhere to strict bid closing deadlines.
- Prepare project cost based on client quantities or by quantifying the scope based on the drawings and specifications.
- Maintain records of estimates, takeoffs, and communication with third party vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare requests for bid bonds, insurance and other documentation for both pre bid and post bid submissions.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of the final estimate.
- Participate in update meetings and project start up sessions with project managers and foreman.
- Create schedules and execution plans for bid submission.
- Prepare risk assessment and determine appropriate methods to mitigate risk.
- Respond to post-bid clarifications.
- Support project teams with estimates for change orders.
- Communicate effectively with estimating/projects team, operations team, and all levels of management.
- Work closely with clients, engineers, and industry contacts.
- Work with finance team to develop project budgets.
- Understand construction contracts.
- Estimate several bids at once.
- Travel to project sites for RFP kickoff, site visits.
- Works closely with High Line Operations, Safety and Environmental teams for preparation of estimates and pre-bid schedules.
- Construction estimating experience.
- Understand and can interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong computer background including experience with MS Office, Bluebeam, B2W, Accubid, and related software.
- Mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, ensuring all estimates are completed on schedule.
- Written communication skills.
