Personal Support Worker - Overnight Respite Program - Ottawa

As a PSW, you will play a critical role in providing personal care, supporting clients with daily activities, and ensuring a positive, safe, and comfortable environment for those in respite care.

• Location: York and South Simcoe, ON
• Shift: Day and Overnight shifts (varies)
• Job type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Assist with bathing, hair washing, oral hygiene, dressing, perineal hygiene, elimination, positioning, and transferring. Administer medication and monitor health status.
• Support clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping.
• Monitor health status, maintain a safe household environment, comply with infection control practices, and report any incidents or changes in client health.
• Help facilitate engaging social and recreational activities to enrich the client experience.
• Complete reports accurately, attend meetings, and adhere to agency policies.

Requirements:

• Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.
• Personal Support Worker Certificate or equivalent
• Experience in senior care and household management
• Ability to read and write English at a Grade 10 level
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Current CPR/First Aid certification
• Fluency in English & French (an asset)
• Good physical health to support clients with mobility and household tasks
• A genuine passion for helping others, particularly seniors.
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach.
• An ability to work independently and as part of a caregiving team.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to promoting client safety and comfort in a home-like environment.
