As the Supervisor, Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC), you will lead a team of Infection Control Specialists dedicated to preventing and controlling communicable diseases across Peel Region. Working in the Public Health Intelligence division, you will play a vital role in safeguarding community health, ensuring compliance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act, Ontario Public Health Standards, and driving excellence in infection prevention strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee IPAC strategies, monitor trends, identify risks, and implement evidence-based solutions.
  • Ensure effective outbreak management, surveillance, and disease investigations to protect public health.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to IPAC consultations and complaint investigations in alignment with public health mandates and IPAC best practices.
  • Engage with healthcare institutions and community partners to strengthen infection control measures
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Contribute to budget planning, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in public health or infection prevention.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of public health experience specializing in IPAC.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from CBIC or a commitment to obtain within two years.
  • Expertise in infection control, outbreak response, and surveillance best practices normally acquired through a combination of continuing education and experience.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to managing emerging public health challenges.
  • Excellent communication, data analysis, and critical thinking skills to support policy recommendations, advocacy efforts and program decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and public health databases (e.g., iPHIS).

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve.

This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
