About Our Client

Our client, a respected and growing general contractor, is seeking a Senior Estimator in Cambridge to lead and support pre-construction activities for design-build and lump-sum tendered projects ranging from $10 million to over $100 million.

Job Description
  • Analyze architectural, structural, civil, and M&E drawings for accurate quantity take-offs and scope development.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, unit pricing, budgets, and cash flow projections.
  • Lead and participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project turnover sessions.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and pricing accuracy.
  • Manage multiple bid submissions within tight deadlines using digital platforms like Building Connected.
  • Contribute to value engineering, risk analysis, and delivery strategy discussions.

The Successful Applicant
  • Technical Construction Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of ICI construction methods and materials
  • Clear understanding of the Ontario Building Code and local regulations
  • Proven ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications
  • Estimating Proficiency
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating
  • Experience with both design-build and lump-sum tendering
  • Skilled in detailed quantity take-offs, cost breakdowns, and subcontractor pricing
  • Software & Digital Tools
  • Proficient with estimating and project management tools, including:
  • PlanSwift, Microsoft Excel (advanced)
  • Bluebeam, Procore, Sage, or similar platforms
  • Experienced in digital bid environments (e.g., Building Connected)
  • Communication & Leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable leading internal meetings and client-facing interactions
  • Effective at negotiating and coordinating with subcontractors
  • Organizational & Strategic Thinking
  • Capable of managing multiple concurrent bids under pressure
  • Maintains a strong historical database and cost benchmark library
  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
