Senior Financial Accountant

Robert Half is currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (full cycle) for a role in Toronto's Insurance Brokerage sector. Reporting to the VP, Controller, the primary responsibilities of the Senior Financial Accountant will be to assist in the maintenance of the Company’s general ledger and the preparation of financial statements and related analyses, tax and regulatory filings, as

well as the timely reconciliation and analyses of funds received from clients and reinsurers and the effective resolution of issues. This is a Hybrid role (2-3 days in office) downtown Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of entity and consolidated financial records including the compilation of monthly and year-end IFRS financial statements (including notes & disclosures).
• Assist with the preparation of periodic board and senior management reporting including annual budgets and variance analyses.
• Assist with the coordination of the financial audits.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for global, multi-currency bank accounts.
• Prepare and process month-end journal entries.
• Complete accurate and timely working papers, analyses and reconciliations on trust payables, receivables, expense reporting and inter-company balances in multicurrency's.
• Assist with the coordination and monitoring of various tax (Income tax, VAT, HST, FET.)
• Assist with various ad-hoc financial and operational analyses including variance analyses on revenue, corporate expenses, foreign exchange and other key performance measures.
• Prepare analyses of reinsurance cash receipts and disbursements, reconciliation of GL to trust accounting systems including accurate application of funds to outstanding balances.
• Participate in projects and initiatives.
