Duties

Media preparation, anaerobic culturing, culture curation, DNA extraction, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, and general assistance in the lab. Some barn work maybe required for preparation of special medias. Students should be comfortable working around animals, and with strong odors.

Work environment

The student will work in the laboratories at the Sherbrooke-RDC in Lennoxville, with possible work in lab at the barn. This position will include lab work in classical microbiology, in anaerobic microbiology and in molecular biology lab work as well as bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic sequences.

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment and, therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

Ability and willingness to work safely with animals in various animal facilities, including a willingness to use personal protective equipment as required.
Ability and willingness to control allergies, through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and this must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.

Ability and willingness to periodically work flexible hours as dictated by animal research.
