Role Overview

Moomoo Canada is looking for a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Operations Manager / COO to join our growing team. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting fintech company that blends both traditional brokerage operations and cutting-edge technology.

Reporting to CEO and other Operational Lead, as a Senior Operations leader, you will have a hands-on role in shaping and scaling the operational infrastructure of our discount brokerage business in Canada. You will lead the operations, middle office, settlement, margin lending, account opening, funding, and support teams.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who thrives in both strategic planning and day-to-day management of operations. You should also have a deep understanding of trading systems and enjoy collaborating with technical teams to enhance the trading platform and overall customer experience.

  • Leadership and Team Development: Oversee day-to-day operations of the brokerage business in Canada, managing cross-functional teams in operations, settlements, margin lending, middle office, account opening, and customer support. Act as a mentor and coach, providing leadership to enhance team performance.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive process improvements, ensuring that all operations are compliant with regulatory requirements and aligned with industry best practices. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of transactions, reconciliations, and settlements.
  • Technology Integration: Work closely with technical product managers and engineering teams to build and improve trading solutions. Provide insights into the practical application of technology within the operations environment, ensuring smooth integration and scalability.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Oversee risk management processes, ensuring that all trading and operational activities adhere to internal policies and external regulatory standards. Advise on best practices for mitigating operational risk.
  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute strategies to scale operations as MFC expands in the Canadian market. Identify areas for operational optimization, automation, and cost reduction.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the senior management team to ensure alignment of operations with company goals and customer needs.
  • Regulatory Focus: A good understanding of Canadian Regulatory framework and how to maintain exceptionally high levels of compliance at all time.

Requirements

Key Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years in a senior operations role within a discount broker or active brokerage environment.
  • Brokerage & Trading Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of trading systems, particularly in the Canadian market (e.g., Broadridge, IRESS, etc.), and experience working with financial products and platforms.
  • Middle Office Expertise: In-depth understanding of middle office operations, including settlement, margin lending, funding, account opening, and reconciliation processes.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience collaborating with technical product managers to build or improve trading platforms and financial tools. While you don’t need to be a technologist, a solid understanding of how trading technology functions and how to work with technical teams is essential.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop teams. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Experience in managing operational risk and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a passion for maintaining accuracy in operations.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Trading Risk System Passion: A passion for the management of risks associated with Client trading, and how to manage risk, and avoid losses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a senior operational or leadership role at a discount broker.
  • Understanding of Canadian financial regulations and market structure.
  • Background in settlements, risk management, and margin lending operations.
  • Prior exposure to fintech and innovative financial technologies.
