Reporting to the Technical Learning and Development Superintendent, the Technical Learning and Development Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing workforce competency by developing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating training programs to cultivate a well-trained, safe, and proficient workforce, contributing to the organization’s operational excellence and safety standards.
Location: Blackwater Mine SiteSchedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership- Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing Blackwater Gold's safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
- Delivers exemplary safety and sustainability performance in line with Blackwater's systems and processes.
- Actively promotes proactive Blackwater Gold's behavioral standards.
- Provides leadership in line with all Blackwater Gold's values.
- Managing and maintaining systems for high quality training including site training needs analysis, training plans and packages, records management and reporting and auditing.
- Create and update online learning packages for all safety and technical aspects of operations.
- Manage and maintain tracking systems for all training.
- Provide expertise and ongoing support to configure and use the LMS.
- Train all users in the use of the LMS in programs respective to different user levels and job roles.
- Create job aids, videos, presentations, etc. on how to use the LMS.
- Design and create report templates in LMS to meet the operational department’s requirements as well as the training department’s requirements when creating monthly, quarterly and customized reports.
- Design and create training programs (e-learning, classroom, hybrid) for operation of mine equipment and other customized training programs required for the safe and efficient operation of the mine site.
- Work with subject matter experts to identify training needs and validate content accuracy
- Conduct online research as necessary to create or enhance training programs, processes and systems, applying leading instructional design practices.
- Design systems, processes and documents to make the training department function efficient and smooth. Examples include the onboarding process, training request process, process to train employees, process to conduct field assessments using digital technology, process to advertise training courses, performance review process and any other systems required.
- Know, understand and utilize a variety of training program development software such as Power Point and Articulate Storyline to create engaging instructional materials and compelling e-learning content.
- Proficiency using digital learning software, graphic design software and at least one Leaning management system.
- Work with subject matter experts from the operation to build site required training programs.
- Liaise and consultation with other departments to ensure needs are met in accordance with requirements.
- Provide guidance for training development to third party training resources contracted to develop customized training.
- Design and create safe and effective competency evaluations to measure employee’s competency level to carry out the duties of their role.
- Review training materials to ensure the content specifically relates to Blackwater.
- Deliver training programs as required.
- Produce and disseminate reports based on established key performance indicators and defined reporting frequencies
- Mentor all team members in the technical side of the program.
- Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation with key stakeholders.
- Liaise with HR and support reporting requirements.
- Conduct online research as necessary to enhance training programs, processes and systems.
- Provide technical support to troubleshoot LMS issues.
- Monitor and report on commitments and compliance.
- Ensuring compliance while implementing improvements to the training process
- Support and track mandatory learning.
- Create and maintain a public portal for the L&D department, to the benefit of all stakeholders.
- Review and update all learning pathways to reflect changes in the business model.
- Support departmental coordination and administrative tasks as required.
- Experience in mining considered an asset
Qualifications:
- Specialization in Technical Training, Education, Adult Learning, Learning & Development or a related field.
- From 7-10 years' experience with training program, development and learning management systems
- Experience with training in an industrial or mining environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of learning management systems.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship trades programs
