Commander – Regulatory Compliance

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy Chief – Professional Standards, you will be responsible for ensuring service compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards, overseeing the recruitment and education of staff; and liaising with allied agencies in the community.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in health, public service, business administration, management, adult education or other related discipline together with three years related experience; or
  • Diploma in health, public service, business administration, management or other related discipline together with five years related experience
  • Knowledge of Land Ambulance legislation, regulations, and current practices pertaining to training and quality assurance issues
  • Knowledge of the points of interaction and critical interface within the health care system; and
  • Experience in business management, planning, budgets, and finance
  • Previous experience with recruiting emergency first responders and creating emergency first responders’ education programs
  • Previous experience in adult education
  • 5 years front line paramedic supervisory or leadership experience
  • Superior ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members of Municipalities, private and public officials, hospitals, Ministry of Health, subordinates, coworkers, and the general public
  • Must possess superior analytical, multi-tasking, organizational, customer service and teamwork skills
