The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care and coordinates the delivery of chronic pain medical treatments to assigned patients under indirect supervision. The RN ensures that he/she adheres to all clinic policies, nursing procedures, standards and practices.
Duties and responsibilities
Provides direct nursing care to patients
Provides supportive care to patients and administers treatments as prescribed
Establishes priorities and makes ethically sound decisions to ensure safe patient care.
Responding to emergency situations to promote optimal patient outcomes by recognizing changes in the patient's health status.
Documenting patient data to ensure continuity in the provision and coordination of patient care.
Assisting with the follow-up care
Collaborating with other health care professionals.
Participating in continuing education
Provides education and resources to patients and families
Should demonstrate knowledge of equipment and how to clean and decontaminate it
Performs nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for all patient
Provides family support as required
Provides patient and family counseling as required, as well makes referrals
Assists in training new nursing staff, and/or support staff engaged in clinic activities
Performs other job related duties as assigned
Qualifications- Diploma in Practical Nursing
- 1 year plus nursing experience preferred
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Diploma required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to educate the patient and families with the nature of the disease, instruction, and care
- Ability to maintain composure and emotional stability to cope with emergencies, stress and human suffering
- Strong ability to maintain safety and quality as well as infection control standards
- Strong knowledge with medical procedures, equipment and medical facilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform nursing assessment and triage
