Status: (1) Contract Full Time – Up to 13 months
Salary Range: $89,469-$111,834 plus comprehensive benefits
Work Mode: Hybrid i.e. 1-2 days in office per week or as per operational requirement *see below for more details about this work mode

What you will do in this role:

We are seeking a Psychological Health and Wellness Specialist responsible for working collaboratively with internal clients and stakeholders to develop, cultivate and strengthen organizational psychological health and wellness at the Region of Peel including:

  • Providing expert advice on psychological health and wellness
  • Facilitating working groups through project initiatives
  • Raising mental health awareness and increase staff engagement in psychological health and safety programs as a means of reducing stigma
  • Ensuring corporate projects use a psychological health and safety lens throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensuring psychological health and wellness concepts and principles are applied to departmental programs
  • Research, develop and advocate for processes and innovative, human-centric practices that respond to the issue or project, and support mental health and corporate wellness. This can be achieved by:
  • Completing an analysis of the psychological health issues impacting the corporation and making recommendations to support Psychological Health and Safety program outcomes using the appropriate tools (e.g., PH&S CSA Standards Audit Tool, etc.)
  • Monitoring developments at all levels of government and elsewhere to identify changes to legislation impacting Psychological Health and Safety
  • Maintaining an awareness of the literature and of developments in evidence-informed psychological health public policy through literature reviews, contacts with other organizations, attendance at seminars and workshops
  • Developing a database and reporting system for employee satisfaction and health and wellness survey data specific to the organization
  • Support the integration and sustainment of psychological health and safety concepts and principles
  • Support the integration of the CSA Psychological Health and Safety Standards into business practices within the Region of Peel
  • Providing input to the development of policies and standard operating procedures ensuring a psychological health and safety lens is applied
  • Engaging in partnerships for resource and information sharing purposes; participate in special projects, task forces and other activities
  • Provide support on non-operational educational development in the areas of psychological health and safety and resiliency training, including development and delivery of curriculum

What the role requires:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a health-related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related and progressive experience in workplace psychological health and wellness
  • Knowledge of current and emerging issues related to psychological health and wellness
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Travel may be required periodically

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent facilitation skills with sound knowledge of various facilitation techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching, facilitate change and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

  • Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON as the primary work location. The frequency and location of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

It's important to note that your remote work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week. The Region of Peel offers job based flexible hours of work that allows employees to manage personal and professional responsibilities while at the same time ensures business operational needs and customer service expectations are achieved.
