Senior Financial Services DG Consultant
Overview:
Adastra is expanding its Governance Practice, and we are looking for a Senior Data Governance (DG) Consultant. You will have broad and deep experience in creating and deploying DG frameworks, policies, and procedures in the banking and financial services industries.You will be a self-starter, a results-focused DG thought leader and strategist who can bring practical prior experience to bear in designing, rolling out, and sustaining robust DG capabilities.

Responsibilities:
- Working with senior/executive client business stakeholders, lead the design and adoption of Data Governance frameworks, strategy, organizational components, functional competencies, and roadmaps
- Lead client business stakeholders to operationalize data ownership and stewardship, and execute Metadata and Data Quality Management pilot projects
- Apply strong group facilitation and coaching skills to business stakeholders and teams to drive organizational alignment and guide decision making
- Develop, maintain, and review data & records management policies, standards, and procedures
- Monitor adherence to data policies and standards, ensuring data quality and availability
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate data risks across the organization - data governance, risk assessment, and reporting
- Demonstrate excellence in educating, training, and enabling the learning and development of others
- Think strategically and execute tactically, including the willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years of experience designing and/or leading deployment of Data Governance programs in financial services (GSIBs and DSIBs preferred)
- or -
- designing and/or leading deployment of Metadata Management, Data Quality, or Master Data Management functions
- Experience and knowledge of applied data management best practices across the data lifecycle
- Experience in executing data onboarding processes, including CDE identification, performing risk and impact assessments, applying compliance controls, and metadata gathering, and data quality measurement
- Experience with the following data management technologies are a major plus and highly desirable:
- Metadata Management Tools
- Data Quality Management Tools
- Master/Reference Data Management Tools
- Track record of DG-related group leadership, facilitation, strategizing, negotiation, and conflict resolution, enabling the candidate to drive initiatives effectively across all levels of the organization (including the C-suite) as well as geographically dispersed teams
- Excellent presentation, verbal communication, business writing, and visual presentation skills; PowerPoint and Word ninja, capable of independently produced publication-ready artifacts
- Excellent analytical and logical/critical thinking skills
- Effective at prioritizing and managing multiple complex initiatives concurrently
- Knowledge of change management processes
- Required: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with concentration in Business Studies, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management; alternately, extensive experience within a Data Management Function
- MBA an asset
