Cost Accountant

We have an excellent contract opportunity for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our client’s team on-site in Brampton, Ontario. The ideal candidate will bring a strong manufacturing background and must have SAP or AS400 experience. In this role, you will be a vital contributor to financial analysis, cost management, and decision-making processes, ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze financial data to provide accurate costing information
• Compare estimated costs with actual expenses to identify variances
• Monitor costs following significant changes in products or processes
• Prepare detailed periodic and ad-hoc reports to inform management decisions
• Assist in budgeting and monitoring of expenditures
• Conduct audits on financial processes and transactions for accuracy and compliance
• Evaluate changes in processes or methods to calculate effects on overall costs
• Estimate product costs for existing and new products to aid in pricing decisions
• Forecast and analyze costs related to processes, labor, and inventory for optimal resource allocation
• Recommend cost-saving or profitability-boosting solutions to improve operational efficiency
• Conduct market research to support business planning and growth strategies
