Home Care Attendant/Health Care Aide
Right at Home Winnipeg is looking for kind and caring certified Heath Care Aides who are able to deliver high-quality care and companionship with a compassionate touch.Right at Home (Winnipeg) is part of an international family of over 600 Care Offices around the globe! We provide the full range of both medical and non-medical care to older adults and disabled adults who want to live independently at home, wherever home is for them.
We are currently hiring HCAs who are available for day, evening, and weekend visits.
Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Care Co-ordination team, the Home Care Attendant acts as a member of the healthcare team, assisting with client care and providing basic supportive care in an independent manner as directed.This position is for WRHA Home-Care backup program.
Experience
- Recent and related patient and/or client care experience preferred.
- Previous Home Care experience would be an asset.
- Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course required.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
- Knowledge of: Information and/or training will be provided within the probation period.
- General skills and ability to perform all tasks and responsibilities relevant to the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload.
- Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
- Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
- Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
- Position involves extensive physical activity such as lifting, bending.
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens (i.e. residual smoke, pets and or/pet dander), physical and emotional stress.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
- Will include travel between clients
- May encounter home environments that could have congested spaces, uneven surfaces (both inside and outside the home environment).
- Ability to travel between assignments in a community area to several private homes of clients within Winnipeg and surrounding areas and to adapt to changes in scheduling on short notice required.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search)Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
Job Types: Part-time, CasualPay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
