Responsibilities- Act as technical lead / project manager for traffic signal and streetlighting projects.
- Responsible for the preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents for the design projects.
- Oversee all project phases, including planning, design, construction management, and contract administration.
- Lead a team of electrical designers and engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation.
- Ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and AODA standards.
- Perform complete Road lighting analytics using Agi32.
- Responsible for the design contents as assigned and the follow-up for Authority and Client’s approval.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal and provincial clients, addressing concerns and updates proactively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, utility companies, and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Integrate energy-efficient LED solutions and perform dark-sky compliance in designs.
- Conduct site inspections and supervise installations to ensure adherence to design standards.
- Coordinate pre-activation and main activation meetings for traffic signal and lighting systems.
- Lead or support in various business development efforts.
- Prepare cost estimates, monitor budgets, and manage project schedules to ensure projects stay within scope and timeline.
- Proactively address scope changes and negotiate change orders when necessary.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency in traffic signal and lighting designs.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation for audits and compliance.
- Required Education | Experience:
- 8-12+ years of relevant experience in traffic signals and roadway lighting design, construction, and project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario (mandatory).
- Lighting Certification (LC) by NCQLP or IMSA Level I (preferred).
- Familiarity with ANSI/IESNA RP-8-21 as well as the TAC Guide for the Design of Roadway Lighting
- Eligibility to obtain MTO RAQS in minor and major electrical work (preferred).
- Proficiency in AGi32, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other design software.
- Strong understanding of power distribution, tender preparation, and AODA compliance.
- Experience with multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including utility coordination and traffic management.
